PAAV-Gitombo Community School Started in 2014 with only 3 learners and one teacher and has grown to have 184 learners and more than a dozen teachers in 2024.

OUR STUDENTS

Our learners are from Gitombo village and a few from the surrounding villages. They walk to school every day which is great as they are able to exercise every morning. They get two meals at school, morning porridge and lunch. The meals are nutritious and this helps the children whose parents are not able to afford any other meal at home. The school provides text books for the learners

OUR STAFF

Staff members from PAAV-Gitombo Community School are from all over Kenya and are graduates of various universities and teachers training colleges. They passionate about their work and are mentors and role models to all our learners. They take bible study every Wednesday evening and teach Sunday school on Sunday afternoons.
Each staff member plays a crucial role in creating a supportive and engaging learning environment.

Extra-curricular Activities

The school is commited to the holistic development of the learners and provide different activates for them to nature them physically and spiritually. To this end the school offers a wide range of extra-curricular activities for our learners including: clubs, sports and games, arts and craft and music. This ensures that their school experience is fun and engaging.

Agriculture 4k club – This club is aimed at getting our child ren interested in farming and teaching them sustainable farming practices. To this end the school has kept rabbits, cows and we hope to keep chicken and pigs in future. This club also helps our teachers have an easier time while teaching agriculture as they have a group of excited and knowledgeable students.

Other School Activities

Debate club – The debate club organizes debates between learners every week on Thursday. This program helps our learners develop public speaking skills, gain confidence and improve on their reading and language skills. Learners are always eager to claim victory and spend time researching on the weeks theme in the school library.
Music – The school’s music program is bolstered by the presence of a music teacher on our staff. He is able to teach our learners how to play various instruments such as the guitar, Keyboard, drums, Piano and the descant recorder. Learner also take time to improvise different music items such as shakers and guitars. Leaner also take time on every Thursday evening to come up with new songs and to learn these songs from each other with the guidance of their teacher.

Sunday School and chapel program –We stay true to our mission to offer Christ centered education by having a Sunday school program. Learners from Our School as well as other children in the community are invited every Sunday in the afternoon. On average, 60 students attend Sunday school every week. They enjoy learning bible stories together.
Sports – Our school also offers a great sporting environment. Leaners are able to participate in Volleyball, football, netball and athletics on the school field. We have a dedicated team of teachers in the sports department who are always encouraging our learners to exercise.

Computer Training – Computer literacy is a huge part of the education system in the 21 st Century. We are determined that our learners should not be left behind. The school has a fully equipped computer room and two IT personnel to train our learners on using computers. This will help them to develop an interest in computing and see it as a viable career choice.
